What the Pramlintide label says about other medicines.

Also sold as Symlin · SymlinPen

Each note below restates a numbered section of the approved FDA label for Pramlintide, with the section named so you can check it at the source. Nothing here is our own advice, ranked, or scored.

Mixing in one syringe

Drug Interactions 7.1

The label states pramlintide and insulin must not be mixed in the same syringe and must be given as separate injections, because mixing alters the pharmacokinetics of both.

Other oral medications

Drug Interactions 7.2

Pramlintide slows gastric emptying. Where rapid onset of an oral medicine matters, the label says to give it at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after pramlintide.

Insulin and insulin secretagogues

Warnings and Precautions 5.2

The label reports an increased risk of severe hypoglycemia, particularly in type 1 diabetes, and directs that mealtime insulin be reduced by 50% when pramlintide is started.

/ What this is not

This page is a transcription, not an interaction checker. It cannot see what else you take, it does not rank anything by severity, and a topic that does not appear here simply was not in the sections transcribed. That is not a statement that a combination is safe. Bring these questions to the clinician who has your full medication list.
